Whats it like to be at the final table in the big event of a major non online poker tournament? Following is a description from start to finish of some of the emotions and action at the Hall of Fame championship no-limit holdem event. With 118 entrants putting up $5,000 each, the total prize pool was $590,000.
The final nine assembled at about 2 am. on Dec. 21. They would play until only six finalists were left and then would reconvene at noon to finish the poker tournament. It didn’t take long for Paul Stringfellow to raise all in with pocket kings and get called by Humberto 'Online' Brenes, who was holding a pair of eights. When an eight flopped, followed by another, the young Stringfellow from Killeen, Texas, was on the rail with $11,800. Mad Poker Money! Stringfellow, who owns a landscaping business, got into the tournament via a victory in a one-table satellite.
Next to go was Luis Santoni, who was unable to pick up a Poker Hand worth playing, and had to settle for eighth place and $14,750.
